I bought a set of adjustable coilovers from a friend and they claim to work with the stock dampers/shocks. But now that I have put the springs on the shocks the shock just shoots up out the top (pic attached)

See what I mean?
​​​​​. I realize the stock shock is longer but these are supposedly supposed to work. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong here or how to correct the problem??? Thanks in advance

 

It looks like you're missing the big flat washer on the underside of the top mount.
