Default Smog Check with P0780 Shift Error, Check Engine light

2001 Accord, V6, 189K miles, transmigration rebuild 60K ago, about 2 years ago I got a P0780 Shift Error, reset and no problem for about 8 months, reset again no problems for 6months. Fast forward to a month ago, P0780 Error left without reset for a few weeks, reset and it came back a day later, reset and it came back the same day.

My registration and smog check is coming up, I know you can't pass a smog check with the check engine light on, I also know that you have to drive a certain amount of miles after the reset before it will pass. I'm afraid that the error will come back before it has time to clear and I will not pass. I am planing on getting a new car soon but would like to pass this last smog and get a few more months out of the car. Can I cut a wire or something so the shift error isn't registered by the ECU? Can I speed up the miles needed for the error to clear after its reset?

FIX:
Used this guide to speed up the wait time after resetting check engine and the ability to take a smog https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...d-2-a-1802981/
Lucky for me I was able to pass, Shift Error/Check Engine light came back on the drive home from the smog place.

When the transmission was rebuilt, did they replace the shift solenoids, pressure switches and linear valve?
You will need Torque converter clutch solenoid A and A/T pressure control solenoids valves A/B and a set of pressure gauges to verify correct pressures at each circuit.
The problem is a pressure issue, it is either due to a faulty solenoid or internal issue.
I would suggest bringing it to a reputable shop that can diagnose where the fault may lie.

Not sure what they replaced when it was rebuild, but it had the same P0780 error. I was hoping not to have to repair the transmission, I don't want to put any money into a 17year old car that I am planning on changing soon.
If I can't pass smog now I'm thinking of letting registration expire and just drive it for about a month and get a new car way ahead of my plan. Or seeing if I can find an unreputable shop that will pass it without charging too much.
