Default OBD port

Where is the OBD port located in a 2004 Honda civic ex. Could something be plugged into it? If so is it safe to unplug it so I can get the codes for check engine light that came on.

Its under the dash on the driver's side. It looks like this:

Nothing is normally plugged into it, as it is meant for diagnostics.

Could have an aftermarket tuner (unlikely), GPS, or other accessory attached. If there's something in there, and you don't know what it is, find out...
