Header Experts !!!! (help me Identify my header!!!) unknown from japan.
When i did get my header I was told it was a MUGEN, brought it without officially checking for the MUGEN label, after carefully looking at it, its a huge header, from japan defenely not american made, all from 304 polished stainless steel, 4-2-1 design. the only tags on it, have japanese characters and numbers tigged on the downpipe and down a header tube.. all contruction is tig welded, tiny beads and exellent craftmanship on it... full pure stainless steel...
I got digital picture from it but I can only upload them tomorw.
what would be famous brands for JDM headers only.
HEADER only has one O2 Sensor Bunhole... so meant for an obd1 prelude (or i think)
it Has a flexpipe on it, and made out of pure stainless steel also.
I have a pic of it next to my mugen exaust and the header piping "outside diameter" is bigger than my exaust piping of my mugen...
i'm looking for pictures to compare to, and also other makes and possible jdm headers....
etc...
The biggest mistery of all... hopefully I didn't get ripped off...
we defenely need a jdm translator as the tags have japanese engraved drawings.. not mugen but like a man that is running sideways "cartoon style" and cartoon shaped letters " blocky design" the plates on the header are about 3/4 inch high and 4 inches wide....
any help would be extremely usefull guys !!

0004-E3-3005 is the number on it ... for the drawing i can't duplicate it .. hahaha ...
looks pretty close to the spoon sports one ... for the collector design and stuff ..
but looks extremely close to the mugen one .. but no mugen label...
I find it odd..
Jasma is it MUGEN or not really but a clone company or the same thing ?

Maxim Works makes high-end headers and exhuast systems. They are sold under the Maxim name. Maxim also fabricates the Mugen Prelude headers for Mugen and supposedly they fab the headers that JUN sells under their name too...
Lets see the pics.

ok ... so i got expersts here tha't good, my buddy is getting the pics from the camera and sending me the pics i'll update them to the FTP soon...
no jasma tag, or mugen tag or anyhting like it ... just a cartoon guy with a box around him and some japanese letering in blocks on a tag that's tig welded and small...
number 1 and number 4 connect to one on the header, and 2 and 3 on the other, the downpipe has a tig welded collector kinda like two bends blended in...
hopefully this can be identified...
somebody said TODA makes headers...
well who is official makers of headers in japan..
Spoon
MUGEN
JUN
APEXI
TODA
GREEDY
who else ??
i know i'm jumping the gun without pictures but trying to find out ... =0) maybe i have something better than mugen.. although i could have worse... so if this doesn't have the "JASMA" tag does this mean this header doesn't pass JDM emmions.. then this could offer more power then ???
possibly ?

Spoon - Only make primaries for the H22, not a full header.
MUGEN - Header has a JASMA and Mugen badge on it.
JUN - Only make a header for the 4th gen (what gen is yours and do you have the header installed?)
APEXI - Don't think they make a header for the prelude
TODA - Again I don't think they make a header for the prelude
GREDDY (Trust in Japan) - Only make a header for the 4th gen.
Feel's makes a header too, but I don't remember what it looks like off the top of my head. I think there is another company that makes a header for the prelude but I can't get it off of the tip of my tounge right now.
And just becasue it doesn't have a JASMA tag doesn't mean that it's not JASMA approved. I think one of the main things with JASMA certification is noise level, at least I think it is on mufflers. It also could mean that it's not really a Japanese made header.

here are some pics..

this one is compared the header pipe to the mugen pipe.. which shows the size difference of the header flange and pipe to the authentic mugen piping ...
odd....
only one bunghole which means only 4th gen..

I'll take a copy of the writing to a friend at work tomorrow who is fluent in Japanese and have him translate it. I'll repost tomorrow after I get off work.
so this header is an RS-R header... is that a good brand, cheap brand... bad header.. crap etc etc.... I paid considering it was a mugen.. if it`s less than i`m not happy....
what do you guys think...

RS-R is a mid-range brand comparable to Greddy or Apexi. The price of the header should be comparable to what those companies charge. Assuming it's brand new, I could see paying maybe $450-550 for it due to the rarity of the part. Looks like a well put together header...
Andrew
so basically this is not up to par as a MUGEN header... meaning i wont`get the same results as I normally would..
would the mugen one yeild substantial improvements over this header or a couple hp`s worth .. or should still be pretty close..
