92 Accord idle problems.
Last year I was lucky enough to pick up a 92 Accord LX with only 121k on it for $1400. The proverbial little old lady's car. The only problem was it idling up and down in park. Now the idle problem is all the time. It's running rich and I can't touch the pedal without it stalling. I've changed the O2 and throttle control sensors, and the ECU to no avail. I only have 2nd and 4th gears now, which I'm guessing is a TCM issue. I can't imagine that would effect my intake system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.
Thanks. Luckily the engine is fine. It's something electronic. When it first started I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. The problem went away for a while after that. That trick worked one more time. That's why I thought it might be the ECU. I would be driving and all the sudden pressing the gas would cause sputtering. If I could get to higher RPMs it would start running fine. Now there is no getting to higher RPMs. When it idles it revs up and down by itself. If I touch the gas it starts to sputter. When it dies the car fills with gas fumes.
for the idle issue you need to find the vacuum leak
for the tranny issue you need to pull all of the solenoids and clean the filter screens and feed pipe of any restrictions and test the solenoids, if faulty then replace the solenoids
if that doesn't fix it you can try swapping out the tcm
if it still shifts bsd then it needs a rebuild
