Strange stalling at different times
Hey everyone,
I have a strange stalling issue in my 1997 Accord Coupe. 2.2L SOHC. No VTEC. Got 280k. The first time this happened, I was driving on the highway going about 70mph. The car completely turns off. If you listen -- I noticed a "click" when it happens. There are two ways I can get it back on. Firstly, (I do not like doing this, but it works) whilst driving when it turns off, I can simply move the key back into the "start" position, which puts it right back where it should be. Or, I can pull over, put it in Park, and re-start it. It starts back up every time. I'm wondering if this could be an EGR problem, as I do have a code for it. Or, perhaps, ignition cylinder or switch? I've been meaning to clean the EGR and it's respective passages, just haven't had time. The 'fact' that the car can restart upon turning key back to "start" is what makes me think it's the ignition cylinder and/or switch going bad. To be honest, the car stalling has been an issue that's been getting worse and worse. I've owned the car only a short year, and, so far, it's been great. Other than this, of course.
I've replaced the intake manifold gaskets and lower o-rings and the alternator. Next thing I was going to tackle is serpentine belt(thought the belt was good enough so I cheaped out and didn't buy a new one -- now it's chirping with the AC on), and EGR & it's passages.
Thanks for all your help guys,
