Default Clutch/ flywheel setup

just looking for input/ personal experience, getting ready to put my car back together and turbo setup, I have a competition clutch stage 4 unsprung, there was no specific instruction as far as resurfacing my flywheel like I have seen in the past, also should I resurface my clutch or go with a competition flywheel and if so what weight, I have read for hours and have seen the most contriversal opinions, so just hoping for some solid info, thanks

When I did my clutch on my 07 Si, I learned that Honda does not recommend resurfacing the flywheel, instead they opt to replace.

If you go with a lightened flywheel be sure it's a one piece steel unit. The two piece ones tend to not hold together from what I read.

Also be aware your fuel economy drops with a lightened fly wheel while your performance goes up. Less inertia to keep the rotating assembly rotating means more gas to keep the same rpm while driving.

Letting off the gas, the car slows faster with a lightened flywheel. Once again due to less inertia.

I’m not worried about fuel economy bc this car will never be a daily driver again, I’ll drive it to and from work a couple times a month and track a couple times a year, that’s it. I just worry about doing a light weight flywheel with the car making decent power and turboed as it is gonna be mostly street driven, and mostly 40 rolls on the highway, I worry about it coming on to quick and smoking the tires, any opinions on that matter? Any and all info/input much appriciated

When I did mine I got a stage 12 14 puck unsprung clutch. The best f1 clutch money can buy.

Take a picture of the 8lb one you have. I have an Exedy 8.9lb and I love it.

I was told it was Exedy but no markings on it to confirm, it looks like the one in this kit, it’s clutch max

That clutch kit was in my swap when I got it so that would make sense, previous owner must have bought the whole kit, I have to say it reeves a bit quick for a turbo car, and it was all go or kill it

Yeah mine looks like this

You're right on having to rev it up to get it going!
