RD1 CKF bypass
Hello HT
I pulled the b20z out of my 200k+ mile 99 ex 5spd and traded it for a fresh high comp B20b. I put my original intake etc on the new engine and attempted to perform a CKF bypass but it has never worked.
Since I put in the new engine my CEL blinks 54 for the CKF as well as 61 and 67 for primary O2 and catalyst efficiency
I’ve checked the quicksplices and everything I could think of multiple times. I have checked my Catalytic with a laser thermometer and it seems to be working and I have spare oxygen sensors that have made no difference.
I feel like I’m missing something here... can someone help me out? Does the ckf bypass work on b20z ECU’s?
Thanks
Wade

I’ve found a couple other posts here with people asking similar questions but not getting answers.

I know I could swap the oil pump or get a tune but it would be nice to get a solid answer on this.

No I certainly didn’t. I pulled the B20z with the intent to rebuild the block with a new head. I swapped in the B20b for the time being to keep the vehicle moving. I wasn’t keen on slapping the 214k mile oil pump on the much fresher engine. I drive the crv pretty modestly and I anticipated using the b20b for 10k miles or So before I pull it back out. I could throw new parts at the B20b but I’d rather use those resources for said rebuild. Clearly if I was the superior person that you are I would have though, as well as many other things I’m sure.
It’s been a while but I did fix this issue.
I reveresed the CKF bypass and swapped the oil pump and timing cover. After doing so I still had a CKF code and I was pissed. I couldn’t find any issue with the wiring. After a bit I decided to swap the original distributor from the b20z onto the new engine and my CKF code cleared.
I haven't truly tested the b20b dizzy but I believe it must have been the culprit.
I also ultimately think that the ckf bypass probably does work but don have a true confirmation on that.
Caoboy, I apologize, I was pretty frustrated but you weren’t wrong.
