2002 civic ex oil in wheel well, down running board, and popping sound
I've got a 2002 Civic EX. Couple days ago I pulled off the side of the road in a place where there was moderate incline in shoulder. As I was pulling away I heard a kind of plastic crunching sound. now there is a slight popping sound from passengers front at hard turn, pulling in and out of parking etc.. I got in last night and had a look -- there is oily residue on shock spring and body, but also good size patches of oil stain in wheel well and a large streak 2/3 way down running board. Didn't see any damage to CV boot or any brake lines, and I'm under impression that when struts leak, they do it from upper seal, which looks dry in this case. Thoughts?
I'm new at this so please forgive and thanks in advance

You could have ran over something on the side of the road and that is the mess on your car.
Do you still have an unusual noise coming from your vehicle?

Could be your axle making that noise. And the oil could be the grease from the axle boot flinging everywhere.

Axles typically make a ticking noise when accelerating or turning, like someone had hung a screw driver from your car and it's dragging and skipping across the pavement. Regardless, check all boots and seals. What's the oil feel/look/smell like?
