Default Mixed up valvetrain components

Over the course of letting my engine sit, I completely forgot which rocker arm goes to which cylinder. I've heard something about polishing the ends so that they don't munch each other when you start it back up. In your guys' experience, how well did this go? What grit/scuff pad did you use? Did you need to use a special break-in procedure? The car in question is a 1995 Honda Accord V6 with the C27A4.

normally when you pull the rocker arm assembly you want to put rubber bands around the rockers to keep them from coming apart
