So i just bought a 01 accord with the 2.3 vtec. When I am accelerating and get into higher RPMS I hear what sounds like valve noise to me! Its kinda a high pitched rattle. Kinda hard to describe. I checked and adjusted the valve lash and still have the noise. It is only when i am accelerating. I I am just sit there and rev the engine you dont hear it. Any ideas?

 

F-SOHC series engines to tend to get a bit loud in the higher rev range under load. Before replacing the old engine in the 95 EX I gave it a few hard, in anger, runs and the engine does get loud in the upper range.

 

run it to close to empty and fill up with 91 or 92 grade and see if it goes away
