Hello there,
I was lucky enough to pick up a '96 CX Civic off a colleague with ~65k on it for $500. He had a CEL and decided that instead of paying to have it repaired, he would just junk the car before the next required smog inspection. I offered to help him out and quickly diagnosed that the Crankshaft Position Sensor wire had been cut by the alternator belt. Well, 20 minutes later the CEL was taken care of and I commented on the great condition of the car, low miles, etc. He offered it to me for $500 and we signed paperwork right then and there.
The paint is a mess with sun damage from sitting out and the headliner is drooping a bit due to age, but otherwise the car performs really well and I'm getting 35+ mpg.
I've got a line on a del Sol Si transmission that I'm going to drop in, but I'm not planning anything crazy for this vehicle. *Maybe* a y8 head swap with matching intake, but that's not very important right now. More importantly is better gearing and maybe new front/rear swaybar. The current, original shocks are responsive still and I'm not planning on lowering it.
