1993 SI D16Z6 Idle HELP
I have a 1993 Honda Civic si hatchback that when I turn it on it will idle at about 2k rpm but once I let it sit for about 5 mins it will start to idle from 1.5k to 2k rpm constantly just bouncing back and forth. I need help I cleaned the iacv with carb cleaner and that didn’t seem to work I’m out of ideas I also did change the timing belt and made sure it was timed correctly idk if that would have anything to do with it idling weird though. Please help Honda fam. I want to drive this car again.
Unplug the IACV, it should drop to less than normal idle. If it still runs fast with the IACV unplugged, find out where the air is getting in.
If it does go slow with the IACV unplugged, the ECU is probably getting false readings from the ECT sensor and commanding a high idle as if the engine were cold. This can happen if the cooling system is not full.

Thank you my issue was solved. the problem with mine was that the radiator wasn’t full of coolant so I drained it and added more and boom ran fine now I just need a new battery lol
