Default How the heck do you remove the cigarette lighter assembly?

The connection broke in my 91 CRX and so I'm attempting to replace it with the assembly out of my 88, but I can't get the damn thing out.

I don't know if I'm stupid, or if it is really this difficult. I already have everything in both cars taken apart, so I want to finish this today. I attached pics of what specifically is giving me trouble.

thats funny but it looks like you already have it out in those pictures?
so can you just not unplug the wiring?
or are the metal peaces giving you problems ?

the lighter is a three peace set up

step one on the front of the center consul theres a small trim peace that must be removed it goes around the hole on the lighter it just unclips

step two theres a screw on cap that comes off the back end
you just twist counter clockwise and it comes off

step three then the rest slides out the front of the plastic peace thats on your center consul

with me so far?

I was trying to remove the assembly from the center console but figured it out after about two hours of screwing around with it (and after ending up covered in ashes). I wasn't wanting to break anything because the little metal pieces seem kind of fragile, but after taking off the little plastic cover here:

I googled again and (finally) found that you need to unscrew the little hexagon screw in order to remove the whole assembly (wires and all) from the center console. The tiny little copper piece that's soldered to the hex screw broke on the original lighter, which was why it wasn't working.

Not exactly the same as in my car, but it's similarish to the hex screw I'm referring to. I always try searching for the answer before posting, but somehow I can never find the right results until I've already asked for help.

Im considering replacing mine with a dual usb outlet, same size as the lighter but wire it for constant power instead of only when the ignition is on so I can charge my phone while Im at work.
