Default Skinnier tires for 2009 Accord EX-L Coupe

I need to replace the tires on my 2009 Accord Couple EX-L, up to this point I have been running the stock size 225 50 R17 tires but would like to try out skinnier tires to get a bit more MPG out of the car. My driving is mostly fairly sedate commuting so I don't need wider tires. Tirerack recommends an alterante size of 215 55 R17 which has a speedo error of about 1 mph. Anyone have any experience switching to a skinner tire on an Accord? Did you see a MPG increase? Has anyone used something skinner than 215 size on an 8th gen accord with 17 inch wheels with no issues?

Proper air pressure is simple, easy, and a practically free way to improve mpg. And it's proven to work.

I doubt you'd see any thing noticeable with a skinnier tire...
