96 honda accord shuts off while driving
I have a 96 Honda Accord lx with a 2.2 engine it has shutting off at random times. But lately it has been shutting off more often and it's starting to be a hard start I have no any DTS codes or check engine light codes. I have read up on it and as I understand it it could be the ECU in anybody give me inside sore help if my ECU is fixable or do I have to get a new one or a used one to save money thank you.
You should pull all the codes that might be stored. Clues might be found there. But it could be a number of things, but inconsistent spark from the Ignition Control Module (Ignitor) can cause that trouble you are having. There has to be strong and consistent spark generated by that module to get the engine started, AND to keep it running. If the spark is erratic, the engine will shut off randomly, and sometimes start right back up, and other times require more time before starting again.

When it shuts off and the dash lights don't come on then it's likely the ignition switch. Could be the main relay as well. Those are the most common culprits. Both are fairly easy to replace.
not true my lights came on just like they do when you put your keys in. In fact I would try starting as I rolled in neutral on freeway many times
I have actually done the same thing try to start the car while rolling when it dies sometimes it works but most of the time it don't. I had just recently replace the ECU it started back up and I ran it for 3 miles on regular speeds and then I went up to about 80 miles per hour and drove it to the store turn it off and start back up to the house turn it off and start it back up and then while driving to my cousin's place it dies and it took me 30 minutes to get it started back up
if the ignition switch is bad, the same position that kills the ignition that keep the car running will also not allow the dash lights to turn on immediately after the car dies

I had a similar problem with my 1995 honda accord ended up taking it to the honda dealership for a diagnostic which is $75 it ended up being the coil inside of my distributor was bad and they wanted to replace it for $595 aftermarket one. I told them no thanks, because i have family friend that has his auto parts shop and sold me one for $150.00. I replaced my distributor and my car has been running since and that happen 3 years ago.
