Default Best quality struts ?

Greetings all,
My 2003 CRV EX (135,000 km) is due for changing at least the front struts and doing a search on the net for the best brand seems to be a lost cause as they all are the best.
I simply want a good quality and not too firm ride. Any suggestions ?

Many thanks

Norm

I've been shopping Bilstein for struts. They're a bit more expensive in general, and they don't offer a product in the "Quik-Strut" format where you just pull the whole strut unit out and replace it with a new complete assembly, but I believe you'll be hard-pressed to find a higher quality brand. Most shock manufacturers focus on sporting pretense with adjustable ride height and firm ride, but Bilstein focuses more on durability and ride-compliance (and off-road performance when applicable). OEMs have been using them for decades when upgraded suspensions were available as an option, and if an OEM is willing to include Bilstein's parts in their new-car warranty, you can bet said OEM has done their homework. Just my 0.02.

I've been very happy with my Bilstein HD struts - about 80K miles on them and they have held up better than OEM.

Many thanks for your responses and from all my readings I would conclude that Bilstein are the best.
However as I am only mechanically inclined and find the Quick Strut format better suited to my capacities, I would like to know if they would be available as a good alternative for my needs.
I drive about 10,000 miles with my 2003 Honda CR-V.
Your suggestions and comments are welcome.

regards,

Norm
