During a recent coolant flush job, the heater core hoses at the firewall were disconnected and reinstalled.
I am convinced that they have been installed incorrectly, yet cannot for the life of me, find a diagram that clearly shows which hose goes to which heater core nipple.

How can I tell? What kind of damage, if any, can be caused by running the car with the hose incorrectly installed?

The hoses were indeed installed incorrectly.

Do you think this would cause some issues with cavitation on the waterpump? I'm concerned it may have damaged something.

 

You should see if any problems occur when you reroute. I don't think you would have any issues as is, but its safe to assume that you should revert to the correct orientation.
