Default HELP and GUIDANCE: B-Series into EF

I have researched. I just need someone to tell me the answers to my questions. I am really confused as what wiring harness I need to run.

Car:
1991 Civic DX Hatch

Current Engine:
D16ZC - currently running EXTREMELY rich, higher idle, with a cut up engine harness

Set Up I want:
B20 from 98 CRV - I have this engine
OBD1 ECU (LS) - I have this computer

So im confused about what engine harness I should use in the engine bay. I do not want to use the current one running this D16ZC as it is cut up. Then, since the car is a DX, I’ve read I have to do an DPFI to MPFI. Im thinking, if I could get a whole harness that is already MPFI, and can plug into this B20, that’d be great.
Could i I use a harness from:
-1990-1993 Integra (auto/manual)
-1994-1997 Integra

im thinking if I got a DA harness, it could almost plug into this B20. Except for the Distributor, alternator and injectors. But idk man.

Just some help. I’ll have the engine harness from the B20. But just imagine I am starting with a bare chassis and engine. What harness and steps do I need to do to run that set up?

The easiest way to do it is to get either a dpfi or mpfi engine harness for your car, and splice on the obd2 plugs onto the harness. Doing it this way means that you wont have to re-pin the strut tower plugs to match the pinout on the integra harness. If your car really doesn't run on mpfi, you will have to run wires for your injectors directly to your ECU. If you want it clean you could probably add another strut tower plug for the mpfi conversion.

When I did my swap I really had no idea how to splice obd2 plugs onto my harness, so I bought a harness from rywire. Easy install.

I would get a rywire harness, but can not afford it at this time.

Im thinking off getting a complete harness from a 94-97 Acura Integra.
Since I’ll have the harness from the B20, I can use the plugs for the alternator, distributor. My thoughts.
i picked up an intake, fuel rail, throttle body, header and harness for the alternator, injectors, sensors on the intake and throttle body from a 95 Integra. I read I’d have to use this intake as the B20’s would not fit. I also read the header is better than the B20’s as well.

It's either a custom harness or you're going to do a lot of splicing. It's usually best to start with the harness made for the car, and work from there. If Rywire is out of your budget, look at some of the other custom harness guys like Monotech.

As someone else already mentioned, if you just try to plug an Integra harness in, you'll likely have to re-wire the strut tower plugs. This is why you can't just take an SI wiring harness and plug it into a DX chassis - the driver's shock tower plug on the DX is 14-pin and the SI is 8-pin...it just won't work. I did a 'clean' DPFI to MPFI a few months ago on my 90 DX, and it was a lot of work - so glad I did it, but it took some thought to execute cleanly. I had one extra DX wiring harness besides the one that was in the car and grabbed portions of an EX harness from the junk yard to make mine work. I still ended up buying a few pigtails from Monotech to finish it off. I did add a new 6-pin plug at the passenger shock tower to carry reverse lights, injectors 3 & 4, and the additional distributor wiring needed.

hi gnome
if the d16z6 motor is running in your car then odds are that your already mpfi swapped
does it have 4 injectors? if yes then yes your mpfi swap is already finished
the running rich problem you have is a problem with your current engine and shouldnt be there with your new engine
the cut up harness you have now should work just fine with that b20 motor
you have a obd1 ecu already thats great now you will need a obd1 dizzy off the integra you got the ecu from

your cars engine harness should always be original
never get a harness from a car that isnt like yours
like a integra or a newer civic
thats all just a waste of time and money

always modify your stock harness useing peaces from the other cars
for more info check out my build thread Marcos new work car 90 sedan
page 4 has info that is useful for you

Thank you. Is there any way I could contact you faster when I am actually swapping the engine?
