Another dumb 5 speed question............
Anybody know if you can swap gearsets between Prelude and Accord 5 speeds? I really don't like the big drop from 1st to 2nd on my '91 EX and I have decided to keep the F22 in my '92 when I get to the drivetrain and try to get more out of it. I would like to replace 2nd gear with the 2nd gear out of a Prelude and also swap in the 4.266 ring and pinion. That will give a more even spread between 1st, 2nd and 3rd and the lower gear set will help compensate for the weak low end torque on take off. If I dropped in the 5th gear from an LX that might also help compensate slightly on MPG's for the lower R & P. This is gonna' be a "driver" not a race car and I've noticed some things on my '91 that I would like to change on the '92. Why bother ? Well if I wasn't screwing with this I'd just be doin' it with something else
. I'm always thinking "what if ?"

from what i've read it is impossible to change parts between the h and f trannies. others in the prelude forum were talking about that just the other day, that's where i got my info from.
i switched to a full h23a1 tranny in my accord.
the gear ratios for 1st and 2nd are the same in the prelude as they are in the accord, if that 1-2 drop is what you want to rid yourself you will be disappointed.
3rd and 4th go by quick though.

I looked into this some a while back. I wanted to swap an accord 5th gear into a lude tranny. deeper accelerrating gears but keep a reasonable RPM at 80mph. I talked to one guy who knew 2 shops that tried it. both failed AFAIK. Apparently H and F series trannies have a different pitch on them, causing them to bind. i think the one shop was carboy racing or something like that.
