01 Honda Accord Cylinder 3 misfire problems
Hi. So I bought an 2001 v4 Honda Accord at first it drove great. After I put a 1000 mile on it started shaking while driving. Took it to AutoZone and they did a scan. It came back as Cylinder 3 misfire so I changed the spark plugs and the cables. It didn't do nothing. a week after that the car started to turn off when I came to a stop and the ck engine light blinked when it was driven in low speeds. I took it to a shop and they ck it, told me that they did a compression test and cylinder 3 came back with 10 psi and told me that it maybe a broken valve but they where not sure so they had to verify it more, they gave me an estimate of 600+ dollars for the fix witch I found a bit excessive. Is that kind of price good for the work that has to be done in the car?
Any help will be appreciate it.

if they do a leakdown test to verify it's a bad valve then $600 is a reasonable price to pull the head and replace the valve
it's a little bit of work to pull the head and then have a machine shop replace whichever valves have issues, then put the head back on
if they are saying $600 to further diagnose then that's excessive, a leakdown test should only take an hour or so and that would be $100-$150

With basic hand tools you can check if the valves are in need of adjustment. You may be lucky and it is simply the valves are out of adjustment.
I definitely agree that an engine needing a valve adjustment can have compression loss but I don't think that a valve adjustment is going to fix compression loss of this nature, if it is indeed due to valves out of adjustment.
IT shows a P01491 code recently wich indicates bad EGR, can this be the issue? I read some about it and it says bad EGR's can cause problems like this. I just want to verify before I buying parts left and rigth.

P01491 is for insufficient lift. This is a problem with EGR valve or wiring to the EGR valve. It is electric, not vacuum controlled.
Do you have an FSM for troubleshooting the EGR?
