2017 cr-v dome light

the dome light operates when switched over to the on position, but when switched to the 'auto' position, it will not light when the doors are opened. any ideas?

it works in conjuntion with the front light switch si parents can check on toddlers.
if thats off the dome light wont work put them both on auto
