2001 accord 4 cyl timing belt kit. Where and which one?
Can anyone tell me best place to order from? I need the water pump and all other things that go with it. I also need the 2 tensioner or serpentine belts because they are squealing.
This is all from memory of past H-T discussions, and much of it is opinion anyway, so take it FWIW:
-Bando has been mentioned as a serpentine belt OEM for Honda. I have also heard Mitsuboshi makes some.
-Some people feel buying anything other than factory timing parts isn't worth the risk since these parts are so critical/labor intensive to replace.
-Unitta is listed in the description for 94-97 OEM timing belts, and is part of Gates. However, buying a Gates branded belt doesn't necessarily mean you are getting something made exactly to Honda OEM specifications.
-There has been some incidence of water pumps included in Gates kits leaking, and Aisin seems to be a popular alternative.
I had the balancer shaft belt snap recently, and I needed to get my car running so I went with a NAPA kit (made by Gates). I also bought an Aisin water pump to play it safe. One of the tensioner pulleys in the kit was a made in Japan NTN, the other was Chinese made.
The local dealership quoted me over $400 for the two belts and pulleys, and the water pump. I have seen good prices on Gates and Aisin kits at Amazon and RockAuto.

Avoid gmb pumps. On my civic they lasted only 50k. The oem ones I used later on lasted to 90k each time and we're only changed out as part of tb maint
