Integra 2001 Type R ECU help needed
Good day, greetings from Oz and thank you if you respond!
I have a 2001 Type R 1.8 engine fitted into a classic Mini. The Integra Type R in Australia came with a "Red Key" immobiliser system - consisting of an immobiliser chip in the ecu, a module under the steering column and a RED KEY. I have no module from the column or red key. We have looped the circuit direct to the ECU thus removing the column module and fitted an immobilser defeat chip from DOCTRONIC in Austria. My problem is I still can't start the car - there is no signal to the negative side of the injectors. The engine will start with a squirt of Aerostart (34% Ether) but stops when the Aerostart is burned. Does anyone know of a way around the system or what I'm needing to do to start the engine?
Thank you for your hopeful impending help!
Kevin

I cannot offer any bypass options, as I know none off hand.
But I will suggest running the engine on another ecu all together. Perhaps you would be better off with an OBD1 system. A P72 ecu would do the trick, but you would want to change the programming to that of the type-r engine. Which is generally easy.

Or just buy a type R ecu for almost any other year. I think 2001 is the only year that had the immobilizer. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
anything 96 and newer will be a direct plug-in
