91 INTEGRA GS SERVICE CONNECTOR HELP!!!
Hey guys, my name is Jack and I am new to the Honda community. I am having a tricky problem where I try to jump the service connector under the passenger side kick panel green/white and brown wire jumped with a paper clip or small piece of wire. I have tried this with no luck before on the same car to check engine codes but I gave up after finding out that I could look through the glass plate on my ECU to watch the light blink for codes. However, I have to figure out how to jump the connector correctly now because I must reset the timing in order to pass smog. I have looked under my hood and there is a sticker saying to jump the grey connector but it just won't work and I can tell this because the engine light will not illuminate when I jump the connector (yes the CEL light works) just not putting my computer into service mode or whatever. So my real question is are there other connectors i can look for, are there multiple grey connectors possibly? OR is there any other way to put the ECU in service mode or do my timing? I've heard rumour of the CEL not illuminating when the service connector is jumped on some cars?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Once again the car is a 1991 Acura Integra GS 3 Door Hatch.
Thanks in advance,
Jack

i wouldnt sweat it too much.
i just tighten down the distrib at the midpoint
and it always fires up and runs fine.
even ran ok for a few weeks when the intake
cam was off a notch. by ok i mean it got me around
with cr*p mpg. assuming you have strong spark
and mechanical timing (crank/cam alignment) is ok
then you should be good to go if all stock.
i've only had a timing light on it a few times
during 362k miles.

Okay guys so I got it working!! My main problem was that everyone was saying the check engine light would light up when the service connection is jumped and if it didn't that meant I was jumping the connection incorrect. However, through much more reading I found out that the CEL will not come on due to the fact that pretty much the only reason it is used is to set timing in these OBD0 cars other than that you just have the blinking light on the ECU for codes and whatnot. Anyway long story short is if you have this problem with your engine light not coming on when you jump the connection make sure that your car is not OBD0 because if it is then you are looking for something that is likely not there. You can also tell if your car is OBD0 easily by looking at the ECU for that red light (won't be on if there are no check engine codes being thrown) and the circle connections coming off of your distributor if you have those it's OBD0. Anyway sorry for the rant but this was difficult and I would like to help others out if they don't know a whole lot like me. Also know i did it right cuz I passed smog this morning
