Hey guys first post on here. I got a 1997 Accord ex 4 cylinder. After doing my first big job on my car (replacing inner and outer tie rods for both sides) I went to have it aligned. The man said that one side was a bit lose and would have to take off the rack and pinion bellows kit to tighten it up. He then proceeded to rip it off without detaching the small hose that connects to the nipple to the boot. What does this hose do because I am pretty sure it aint attached to anything anymore and I can't find any diagrams to tell me what it does. Thanks u guys are godsends.

it allows air to redistribute from right to left or visa versa when you turn the wheel

without it connected, contaminants can get inside

did you tighten it to spec ? did you make sure to bend the tab of the metal washer over so it doesn't back off ?

it's possible this guy swindled you

Thanks for the quick response. I was only able to fold one side of the washer. so im gonna take the boot off to see how this guy 'fixed' it. Im just going to take it to my normal mechanic tomorrow to see what the deal is. Thanks.
