YS1 Differential Bearing Part Numbers
I'm doing a rebuild and installing all new bearings and synchros in my YS1 transmission from a '93 Integra GSR. I went on on honda automotive parts and ordered two " 91005-PS1-003 / Bearing, Sealed Ball (6208C) (Ntn) ". However, I received two " 91005-PC9-008 / Bearing, Ball (TMB208C) (Ntn) ". I messaged Majestic Honda and asked if this was a mistake or if these parts are interchangeable. I'm awaiting a response now but I was wondering if anyone knew if these bearings are in fact interchangeable. The new bearings I received are not sealed like the old bearings I took off. I was thinking maybe the bearings I ordered are discontinued and have been replaced with this new style bearing. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks!

The same thing happened when I rebuilt the transmission in my car, the factory bearings had a seal on one side and the replacements did not. In my experience the new bearings are just fine, I imagine the original supplier stopped making them and Honda substituted a different bearing in or something along those lines. Also, make sure to check the clearances on differential and change the shim if necessary, too loose or too tight will cause problems.
Just checked with Majestic Honda and they confirmed that the part number they shipped superseded the sealed bearing I ordered. Good call on checking the shim. I will be sure to do that. I have the Helms manual all printed out and ready to go. Sounds fairly simple for the differential shim. A little lost on the mainshaft shimming but that will be a different thread.
The sealed side faced away from the diff in my gearbox. I'd assume it's to prevent dust and dirt from getting in the bearing through the axle holes when they are removed.
