hello everyone i really am stumped i recently have gotten the dreaded p1491 code and ive been through the forums and done just about everything said... but im clueless why i have egr solonoid power at 5 volts but yet no egr control slonoid ground (red wire) but i do have full 13 volts at the blk/yel wire when i test between body ground and blk/yel any help would be greatly apprciated

 

that code means it's not seeing lift in the valve which is either the ground is not being applied or the egr valve itself is so caked up that it's not lifting when it's being told to

you can test for continuity from the connector back to the A7 pin

OBD2 Pinout - Nthefastlane

if it's good you can pull the egr valve and see if it's caked up with carbon

if that's also good then it might be the ecu is bad

 

yes i am aware of that but i did take the car in that knew these cars a little better and it turns out that the wiring harness is the incorrect type and the theres no ecu ground comunication.. but thats ok thanks for the help i managed to rid of the car

 

its more likely you got swindled, especially if you sold the car to the mechanic that made the diagnosis, especially considering the fast turn around time
