Good Morrning, I have a Honda Accord 2002 2.3l VTEC with initial tire 195/65 R15 and I want to put new tire 225/45 R17 then my question is: Is there any technical problems with this modification & how wil be the vehicule performance after this ( fuel consumption & other).
It's a wider tire so your rims are going to be bigger and require more force to keep moving probably increasing your fuel consumption. Also I'd have reservations about the front tires rubbing while sharp turning. Would suggest getting a tire shop to test fit one or both of your front wheels
I have a 94 Accord and I changed to 17"rims and I use 215/45 on the front, and 225/45 on the rear. The 215 is closer to the original diameter, and not quite as wide. The 225 would rub the fender on the outside of the tire. But mine is also lowered about 1 1/2 inches. The offset of the rims also makes a difference. I use +45 on the front and +40 on the rear. It's what works for me. Others may vary.
I also have that question. Stock rims are pretty light. With little performance upgrades I brought 150k engine back to its original 145hp. is that enough for 16inch without loosi g speed or power I think 2.3l 17in is too big. Bought new right axel broke in half after upgrades while launching it. I have headers and down pipe to install which might compensate for buying heavier rim..there about 6lbs lighter than stock... Stock rims
