VSS/Speedometer
I have a 1997 Honda Accord. My car has a slow speed sometimes and regular speed at other times. The speedometer will not go passed 20mph. I had the VSS changed and spent approximately $200 with parts/labor. I am in need of this car REALLY bad. I have currently have 2 newly car loans and both of my children in college. I cannot afford a 3rd car loan and I cannot continue to put money into a car that I only paid $1,000 for. I don't trust my child to drive this car back and forth to college in the condition it is in especially since I do not know what the problem is. When I purchased the car in 2016, I was under the impression that I only need 2 tires, an oil change, a muffler, and a paint job. I have taken care of everything but the muffler/paint job because it is always something. I have spent more than $1,000 in the car and it has set up since I bought it. I don't want to get the muffler until I know what is wrong with the speedometer. I am not mechanically inclined and now have trust issues with mechanics and shops. Please advise me on what my next step should be. Need this car fixed properly ASAP!
