99 Accord v6 Engine swap compatibility
Hello Honda brothers and sisters haha, i would like to know which engines would be a fit for my Accord v6 automatic. Which engine would help it’s performance, and all the names of the engines that could fit my Accord. Thank you so much, much appreciated. God bless.
J series engines have very similar blocks, its the change in the cylinder heads/intake/exhaust that increased the power.
98-02 J30 200HP
03-05 J30 240HP
06-07 J30 244HP
The other difference is the 98-02 had a 4spd AT while the later cars have a 5spd AT or 6spd manual.
Swap in a later J30(if you want to stay 3.0) with the appropriate transmission and wiring harness, but that would require modifications to make work with your older Accord.
Comptech did offer a supercharger for the 98-02 along with their headers net ~225HP to the wheels, so if Comptech still has this kit that may be the easier route rather than trying to swap in a later model engine/trans.

I have a 2005 Honda accord hybrid with 3.0l i-vtec, I swapped the engine for a 2007 Acura RL SHawd 3.5l vtec. I bolted all the hybrid components on to the 3.5l with no problems. And, it runs great for the first ten miles. Then I get a check engine light and it shuts down at 3500 rpms. I gives the PO 2648 which has something to do i-vtec solenoid wiring. The 3.5l is vtec, no i-vtec solenoid. Does anyone know what l have to do to the engine bay wiring harness to fool the computer, or in other words which wires do I change or cross to make it work?
