'94 Civic LX sedan here
Hi folks,
Got an account about eight years ago, lurked a bit, asked you all a few questions, and you helped me out. Been working mostly on Mercedes-Benzes over the last few years, and now actually doing something with my li'l Honda besides driving it.
It's a '94 Civic LX 5-speed manual with the stock D15B7 engine. Gets pretty good fuel mileage (40 mpg highway). The car is almost stock, only very mildly modded.
"Mods", if you can call them that, are as follows:
1.) Monroe Quick-Struts for the rear (I used the Integra version based on reading this forum--gives an nice feel),
2.) rear camber kit,
3.) rear disc brake conversion using Integra stock parts,
4.) white LED's for the instrument cluster,
5.) new (good) speakers and a 12" sub (tuned for fidelity--I listen to mostly classical and jazz), and
6.) HID retrofit.
Like I said, really mild stuff. Everything else is stock.
Future upgrades:
First will be a suspension rebuild. It's getting to be time, boots are starting to tear, the car has over 250,000 miles on it. I plan to use Integra struts because I prefer the somewhat sportier feel, while still being comfortable for daily driving.
Next will be a turbo kit. Been reading up on those, too, and the power goal will be mild, only 200 hp, again meant for daily driving. Been looking pretty hard at the Go-Autoworks basic turbo kit for this purpose. Called 'em this last Saturday morning and got some recommendations.
Idle just started wavering this morning, the tell-tale sign of a carboned-up, stuck IAC valve, so I'll be doing that probably this weekend.
This is a fun little car that has taken me 3,000 miles round-trip from the East Coast all the way to western Nebraska and back, with no problems. I wish to keep it that reliable and trustworthy, while injecting perhaps a little extra "fun factor".
