Default Blue smoke exhaust pipe

I have a 2001 Civic Lx
i had a big exhaust leak on the exhaust manifold for about a whole year and til now i came across a header and installed it and now it started smoking blue after warming it up from a 30 Min drive. These dx/lx models have the cat on the header which I did not get to fix the exhaust leak, I got some no name aftermarket headers so now it’s straight piped and smoking blue after driving it until it’s warm. I also have a valve cover gasket leak and oil is leaking down to the exhaust manifold gasket. Could this be the cause of the blue smoke? I haven’t done a compression test just yet. But the car runs even better since i have no exhaust leak anymore .

Have you done anything to adjust fueling for not having a catalytic converter? If not, you're probably running super lean and thus causing elevated combustion chamber temperatures. If prolonged, this can easily burn up pistons, rings, rods, bearings, valves, and much more. This would cause oil consumption through burn-off, due to poor sealing ability in the combustion chamber, and would be visible through blue smoke out of the exhaust. If it begins to dissipate as the engine warms up, that's just the natural expansion of the metal internals reducing the amount of blow-by you're getting. Odds are, if you didn't adjust fueling, this engine needs either a complete teardown/rebuild, or a complete replacement.

Yes I’m planning to put a new d17 in about a month or so but was just curious of your guys opinion or advice. . After installing the cat-less header I started burning way more oil either that or the leak got worse I’m buying the valve cover gasket this weekend to help the lower the oil consumption. I also had to disconnect the top o2 sensor since the sensor itself was hitting the bottom mount causing it to blow my alternator fuse .

If you're burning more oil, that valvecover gasket is not the culprit.

would you know why the oil started burning quickly after installing the header?

You ditched the catalytic converter, and as I said in the prior post... without doing something to alter the fueling of the car, its going to run super lean because the secondary oxygen sensor is reading high fuel levels and trimming your fuel. This will cause increased temperatures in the combustion chamber, and subsequent damage to all parts that create a seal in the combustion chamber.
