Gears sitting in weird spots...? [96 civic B18 GSR]
Hello, so recently after I hit a really deep pothole at night, My car's gears had been shifted. My car is pretty low so it got kind of messed up by it [oil pan gasket popped off from the impact as well but thats fixed]. Whenever I try to shift into first, it feels as though its actually in 3rd, and 2nd is 4th, and so on and so forth. When I shift into where reverse -should- be, it doesn't catch onto anything and feels like its in neutral. Same for trying to go into 5th gear. I'm still a rookie with cars but I'm think it might have something to do with the shift linkage, and hopefully I didn't break something expensive and important in the tranny? Thanks for the help in advance!
i would check the shift linkage first to see if there is any obvious damage or if it looks bent. thats way cheaper than investigating internal transmission issues.
Linkage or shifter stabilizer is bent.
Raise the car up. If its that low then you're scraping the trans case and you'll eventually wear part of it away enough that it starts leaking by the SCHA.
