Sos SOS I just put new NGK wires and OEM plugs , Honda cap and rotor, as soon as it warms up smoke comes out from beneath the car. The Catalytic converter I believe. I got a cat failure code prior to to working on car. The car runs real rough have to gas to keep from stalling. No over heating the coolant is at level. I’m all ears?

Front 456

I had a friend doing the wires and distributor the NGK wires at numbered I check his from the distributor , and they looked correct. I could be wrong let me know? I know he had some problem with the rotor didn’t realize it had a screw. I haven’t taken the cap off to double check.

no, i was saying remove the oxygen sensor from the pipe to see if the cat is clogged which will allow the exhaust to escape

Does it matter if the car is cold or hot?

Have you verified the engine is mechanically fine? Compression check? Valves correctly adjusted?

rst time it sounded fine then as the ECU picked up it started idling up and down. One point when i started the engine was shaky. I installed a new passenger from engine mount i was worried that was it. i disconnected the battery and checked my wiring from the cap. The NGK plugs wires don't seem to fit as snug on the valve plate as the stock did, but all were in correct when compared to the chart above. Now the i start and it idles real low and wants to stall unless i give it gas even then its not a good rev bogs out, It doesn't over heat and the coolant is still at the fill level, i was getting a strong fuel smell, now its exhaust fumes coming from under the car even after i cut the engine it smoke for a bit.

yes i I know lol you probably thought I went out and bought new ones . No I purchased last year when I had error codes on catalyst. I got a good deal on a bolt on Ca carb cert on emission. I haven’t had a chance to work on it yet . I did pick up a compression gauge. So that should give me some relief or head ache. Thanks for your intel I am not a mechanic, but I did stay at the Holliday inn

normally when you have that many codes the crank sensor is bad or possibly the part of the crank that the sensor reads off of is dirty and needs a thorough cleaning

before i began work on the Accord I had a Catalyst error and the car was doing the same thing. I had evap issues and my car would always smell like gas was leaking out but i could never find the source. I replaced the evap shut off valve months before and the code ended. Then my car started stalling while driving so i replaced the ignition switch which was burnt. The car would stall out at first almost like i was running out of gas and would have to pump the pedal ,b if i got it warmed up it ran fine. It got to where it was too hard to keep it going to drive. So i worked on it replacing the wires, plugs, map sensor, dist cap and rotor, steering , alt , and timing belt , pulleys and water pump, passenger engine mount, air filter, radiator fluid , I still have oil , catalytic convertor , fuel pump, trans fluid. I have a vacuum gauge i have used yet. The car ran great when i first started it. after a could days letting it run while running test, it began getting codes. one i got was the coolant heat sensor. i Tried to take the bolts of the convertor but only got one. when i start the car i have to keep my foot on the pedal or it dies. i was getting smoke from the bottom of the car. i post that.

I did a timewing belt and water pump replacement. The marks were on target except crankgear the balancer was lined up and the crank gear was off. I was tolld to line up the harmonic balancer on the time mark. My intuition argued that the gear should be at 12 . We turned the crank 6 full reps it was difficult due to pluggs and new belts. My made a horrible metal sound i realized no fluid had be put in the pump so I quickly added coolant which solved that. I was pleased it was running great. A day later I started have the issues that were present before. Erratic idle and smell of gas. Prior to doing the work I had map sensor code and catalytic code , I replaced plugs , wires, cap , rotor . I began getting the codes for misfire the following day. Looking under the car I could see smile rising from my cat. I am clueless. I’m going to take the cover off and clean EGR then replace cat. The only other thing may be fuel injection oh and of course the gear I may have to do it again not sure ?
