Shift flare 2-3 when cold. 00 accord 2.3 220K
Hello,
As the title says. My transmission flares in gears 2-3 when it is cold. After driving for a while and everything reaches operating temp it seems to shift fine. I did a drain and fill 3x over in September using Honda ATF. Fluid level is good but I did discover a very slow leak on one of drive shaft seals. What would you all do? From what I have read on past forms, it seems like my transmission filter screen could be clogged? Would cleaning the solenoid screens help at all?
Basically, I am gearing up for a long road trip in March (about 2k miles round trip). Everything else should be square with it (TB and water pump replaced, tires, brakes are good) and want to know if I need to get this squared or not before hand. I have done a fair amount of research and plan on doing a JDM trans at some point.
Any thoughts or advice appreciated,
Mason

Verifying the shift solenoid screens are clean, but I don't think this may be the problem.
Using an OBDII code reader/scanner, verify there are no stored codes. Not all D4 or CEL codes cause the warning lamps to illuminate, even though some codes can be serious.
Check for any leaks at the two gear pressure switches.
Second gear pressure switch is located under the distributor above the VSS. Air intake may make it hard to see. There is a metal stay/stiffener that will need to be removed to access it.
Third gear pressure switch is located on the right side cover of the transmission.(most likely the one to be at fault if a 2-3 flare).
Check the wiring and connector to the swtiches are also in good order.
