96 accord w/h22a not starting with key
I have replaced the main relay even though the fuel pump kicks on. It won’t crank or start with the key, so I replaced the ignition switch, but it still won’t crank. I can turn the key to on, and jump the solinoid on starter and it will crank, fire, and run fine. Just can’t start with key. Does anyone have an idea what it might be? Btw it was working fine but the car has set for a while.
What is battery voltage? Under 12.xx and it is going to crank slow. Less voltage will crank less. Might just make a tick from the solenoid click.
Did any of these happen first?
You replaced the cylinder lets omit that.
With a charged battery 12.68+.
Wiggle test , remove the lower dash kick exposing the harnesses going to the column above your legs, while turning the key multiple times, wiggle the different lengths of wire , eventually you you will hit the one with poor connections and she will light up. Try it...Those old ignition harnesses can be particular about how they lay , and fail if they are disturbed, by a replaced "what have you".

Yes the battery has been tested and fully charged (plus it is brand new along with a brand new alternator). I’m going to assume it will push start, as I can jump the starter solenoid and it will start. I also went ahead and pulled the starter and had it tested and it it passed also. It must be in the wiring before the ignition switch. Which wire sends the 12v signal to the starter? Maybe I can try running a new wire jumped from the ignition switch to the 12v signal connector on the starter solenoid and see if it will work. Then I would know if it’s the signal wire or not.
No nO no. Back track throught the harness. Use ohms and keep one end anchored to the DVOM lead. Find where the break is. There wont be ohms anymore it will say OFL.
Follow the wiring diagram in your manual when you get lost at the bulkhead. Manual will give you wire color codes.
