Hey so i have a 2005 honda civic lx the car starts perfectly fine but when i try to go into drive reverse the car wont move the car does roll but makes a grinding like noise only no lights are on dash the rpms goes up and the speed goes up but car isnt moving.. is the transmission gone or what could be it? The speedo goes up as i hit the gas plz help

 

Sounds like an axle is popped out or broken. Check both drive axles.

 

1. Is it an automatic transmission or manual?
2. Have you checked the transmission fluid?
you said there is a grinding noise. That could be a worn down gear in the transmission as the gears are trying to grab each other, but are so worn down that they can no longer fully grab each other.
