Transmission failure
I have a 2001 Civic DX automatic. I experienced a strange shift through one of the gears while driving home one day. After that I stopped for a light and when I went to take off all that happened was engine revving. The car would go nowhere. To date I have changed the shift sensor, the pressure sensor and dropped the fluid. The fluid was dark but didn't smell burnt. I'm kind of at my wits end here. What else should I be looking for? Its not throwing any codes when I scan it. Could the computer be bad? Other than the transmission problem the vehicle runs like a top. any assistance anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Those years are notorious for transmission failure I drive a 2001 civic 4DR and it happened to me as well it started with shifting funny never died on me but my dealer told me to bring the car over to them asap. I did and change the complete transmission thru dealer. If you are keeping the car than would suggest you get those remanufactured transmission with some warranty other wise if you are planning to sell than you could get a transmission from a salvage yard for cheap so that your car is running again. Hope this help
