1991 honda civic blower motor
I've been dealing with this issue for a while now. It all started when the brushes were going bad. I wiggled the connection on the motor over a few month period when it would stop and I would get it going again. Then the resistor went bad, so I replaced it. About 6 months go by. Then, the fan just quit, and wiggling the connection wasn't doing any good either. So I tested the electrical, fuses, and connections. Power was getting everywhere so I pulled the motor. Sure enough, worn out brushes. $8 later and a tiny amount of grinding to get the brushes to fit the holder and it bench tested fine. I install it, and no good, it doesn't work. I take the selector switch apart and clean it, no luck. I have tested every connection through the path the electricity takes, and the fan still won't work. So I decide to hot wire it to ensure nothing got jiggled loose somehow during the install. It fires up and runs good, and it's how I've been surviving for about 2 weeks now. I took apart everything again tonight to clean and check connections, but still no luck. Hot wire is the only way to get this fan to turn on.
What am I missing? I have followed the path through the entirety of it's course and get power everywhere. The only way to get it to run is direct 12v from the battery.
Help will be greatly appreciated.

I had this issue a few years ago and replaced a bunch of stuff and never got it working. I came across a thread on here and someone mentioned a ground junction (G201) by the passenger headlight that houses a bunch of grounds and sure enough one of them had come out. Slid the unattached ground back in and the blower started working. Here is the thread and it has a ton of useful information in there to diagnose a blower motor not working in this chassis. I had the same issue on my car about a year ago, it turned out to be the slider switch. Somehow the PCB of the slider melted and warped, now the contacts on the slider were floating and no longer touching the board.
There is no band aid solution to this, you just have to replace the slider which involves taking apart the center console. Luckily for us, it's only about 10 screws in total to get it out.
