Default Exhaust EXTREMELY DRONY

So i purchased a bone stock integra gsr. I hated the look of the stock exhaust and headers, went out bought myself a 4-1 megan header and a drift spec megan catback (2.5 inches), and a fully custom test pipe. There r no exhaust leaks. From idle, the car sounds amazing, reving up sounds beyond amazing. When I drive it, It's insanely loud and drony. yes i expected a loud exhaust but im talking a very crappy louddddd!!! sound when im normally cruising around. Is it the megan exhaust itself or would buying a 4-2-1 header (smaller collector and ability to bolt up like a normal header) and a high flow cat, would my car sound better? im ok with a loud car but i cant stress enough that i cant hear music from inside my car because of the obnoctious drone. and its a raspy drone aswell.

You bought a cheap muffler with no baffling , no resonator and running a test pipe. Not too much more to expect here. You gotta swap that out... Yes, all of it.

To begin, theres a resonator, a very big one. The piping is all the same no matter the exhaust. Im thinking a cat and a new muffler would do me justice

And a better resonator. (which basically means, change the entire exhaust from the Megan nonsense.). I'm sorry you feel that the piping is all the same no matter what the exhaust. That seems to be your decision on your selection that you want to publicize, not ours.

You're complaining about the results of your selection, and have solved your own problem (partially) yet you want to "begin" to advocate against what I'm saying in an abrasive manner telling the truth.

You'll be fine.

I concur with what Shodan is saying.

Also, the actual material being used will change the sound of the exhaust as well. An exhaust made of cheap steel will sound different than an exhaust made of mandrel bent 304 stainless. If you want a good sound, it will cost you.

its made of t304 stainless. I added a magnaflow high flow cat and its still loud like any other honda but there was a significant difference.

Buys $250 exhaust instead of $500 exhaust. Spends $500 more in parts and labor hacking it up and trying to fix it.

This is a classic lesson in “do it right or do it twice”

Also, wtf is a “fully custom test pipe?”

I spent 180 on the headers, nothing wrong with them, spent 350 on the drift spec full exhaust, nothing wrong with it, I spent 60$ on a test pipe from megan. After that, realizing this wasn't going to workout, found some scrap 2.5 inch piping at a shop, free, cut the flanges off the megan test pipe, and bought a 60$ magna flow cat that I welded in. So I went 60$ over and my own labor to fix my whole problem. And the car sounds fine. I didn't mind spending 60$ (not 500) and maybe a hour of my time to fix a simple problem. I had a minor imperfection, never had to do anything twice

If you're happy with it that's fine. You should never value your own labor as free though. I bill myself at $75 an hour
