SRS light stays always on in Honda CRV 2001
SRS light stays always on in Honda CRV 2001. I bought this car recently and did not check properly. Now I got the issue and affraid whether it has something to do with the airbag. Please suggest.
If the red SRS light is illuminated on your dashboard then the SRS computer senses an issue or failure within the SRS system. It could be as serious as a failed bag inflater module, or more often than not I've seen it's a bad sensor in the driver's seat belt buckle. I don't remember if 1st gen CR-V's have seat belt sensors or not...now that I think about it. I never looked at mine. Regardless, if your SRS light is on, your airbags may not operate if you're in a crash...it depends on why the SRS light is on, so you should check it out and see what your failure is.
Hi,
Thanks for your response. Today my mechanic scanned it and get the error code 54-1 (Fail safe relay). He is trying to figure out what is causing this alarm, still no luck.
can anyone help me in this regard?

All these error codes 51-2, 51-4, 52-8, 52-9, 52-A, 52-B, 52-C, 52-D, 52-E, 52-F, 52-1, 53-2, 53-3,53-4, 54-1, 54-2, 54-3, 54-4, 54-6, 54-7, 55-1, 55-2, 55-3 & 55-4 relate to an internal Failure Of SRS or Supplemental Restraint System Unit
For my Element I took apart the drivers side seat belt buckle and cleaned it. There was a lot of fur and hair in there that was disrupting the mechanism and causing the light. Try that.
Berz out.
