Default 94 Honda Accord EX ODB1 Code 9

Hi everyone!

I have a 1994 Honda Accord EX and for about a year now when first starting her up the engine would sputter for a few seconds, the check engine light would come on and then she ran great! This would only happen when first starting the car. Last night for the first time after the initial first sputters it would keep happening anytime I came to a light or in traffic where the idle was very low. A few times it even sputtered out and I had to restart the car.

I checked the error code and it came up with a 9 - No. 1 Cylinder Position Sensor (CYP). Of course I checked the forums and google, but I didn't really get a good place to start. About a month ago I did change the spark plugs, the wires, and the distributor, but of course nothing was fixed as I had hoped.

Anyone know where I might start to get this fixed? I'm sure everyone can tell I'm not a mechanic, but I am pretty handy so I wanted to try and correct this on my own before admitting defeat and heading to an expensive mechanic. Thanks so much!!

Honda are very picky when it comes to the ignition system. I recommend using ONLY OEM parts..wires..cap..rotor..and especially plugs..that where i would start...

Did you buy a reman or aftermarket distributor? What was the reason for replacement? As mentioned before Hondas are princesses about their ignition stuff. I had a civic that would reject coils and icms long term if they weren't oem.
