man you guys in California get it bad.
why do you guys think this is only Claifornia?
This is a FEDERAL LAW meaning all 50 states are included in th elaw.
As black deuce coupe mentioned, this law has been around for ages.
Old news, but always a nice refresher for those that didnt know.... it is a federal crime punichable in all 50 states.. scary huh? $3000 fine is not a nice thing, but it reflects how important catalytic converters are to the cars pollution control.
A cop that finds out you have removed/altered/gutted your cat will have a field day with you.... tow the car, impound it, etc. Have fun with that scenario.

Heh, we alabamians don't even have emmissions at this point. If we did, it seems like half the cars on the road wouldn't pass....
that's why there are high flow cats

Testpipes blow nuts IMO. They make your exhaust louder than if you have a cat, they help you burn more oil (that's bad!) and they are illegal. Is the small whp gains (and loss of low end) worth the trouble?
And why would you remove the catalytic converter? We are all responsible for taking care of the place we live. If you remove it then you should suffer the consequences. Or stick the tailpipe back into your car so you can breathe the nice exhaust fumes.
Ok tree hugger ... do you think that a few people in the US not running cats is gonna hurt the o-zone anymore then THOUSANDS of japs and europeans not running cats and running leaded fuel....gimme a break,

Florida
