Beginner's Project Car: Engine Swapping
I'm not too sure if I'm posting in the best discussion section for this specific question, but here it goes.
I'm a car guy (obviously, because I'm asking about getting started on project cars), but I'm can't even consider myself to be an avid tire-changer. I'm 18 and headed off to college, but I won't be far from home, so that's not an issue for any of this. My main concern is WHAT I want to build and technical stuff I should know before doing anything. Right now, I'm settled on finding a coupe version of the 1998-2002 accord and doing an H22 engine swap (while hoping to keep everything road-legal). My current car is an older 1996 Accord Coupe Ex with 225k miles on it and a stock F22B (145hp, fun as a beginner normie-car, but hard as hell to work/mod with, from what I hear); runs like a charm.
First question: Should I even bother trying to use a "newer" chassis for the swap and stick with the vehicle I have, either for hazards or special clauses?
Second question: Information on what to worry about when swapping an H22 DOHC VTEC into an SOHC-fitted engine bay, rookie mistakes, advice for sensors, what axles to get/make, timing, breathing, and any other miscellaneous things.
I'm EXTREMELY new to building/modding cars, but I have some friends and a mechanic to help me out, as well. Despite that, there's a limit of knowledge that I have ultimately used up, and you guys are the next step.
