so like every two weeks i have to scrub off all that crappy white residue from my battery. what the hell would cause it to build up so fast? im running my stereo off it, but that's it. would that do it? i was told to wash it off with hot water, but the crap keeps coming back!!!

 

You should wash it off with vinegar and baking soda, or water and baking soda, I've seen people pour Coke on it and rinse it off with water. Might need a new battery.

 

I wonder if your battery is over charging or something.. I don't quite remember what causes it.. But I do know that what's happening is that your battery is giving off hydrogen gas.. And the only time it gases is when it's charging..

And since you said that you've got a stereo hooked up to it, it's probably sucking too much out of the battery and forcing it recharge a lot..
