Default Compression for supercharger

I have a rusted out em1 with a jrsc. Yesterday I bought a rust free shell, same color as mine even. I plan to swap my engine over the winter and thought about going through it while its out of the car. I found a rebuilt bottom end with 12.5:1 comp. Is that too much for a dd? If i'm not mistaken turbo's like lower compression and SC's like higher but I may be wrong. There wanting a $1000 for it. Maybe I could rebuild mine cheaper myself? btw its a b16a2 with a stock bottom end and is burning quite a bit of oil. Thanks

I'd normally say 12.5 is pushing it on a pump gas FI application, either turbo or SC, but in the case of JRSC they don't really put out a tonne of power anyway, so it may actually yield good results without running into issues with the fuel. If possible I'd check with your tuner first, but since I'm estimating your peak WHP will still be under 270WHP or so at absolute most, it may actually work out OK without having to aggressively pull back timing or deal with detonation.

That all sounds good to me and ya I will be well below 270 i'm sure. The last dyno from the previous owner was around 210. As far as talking to my tuner that is becoming an issue as no one in my area is doing it. I need to search around and find someone.
