damage from overfilled engine oil?
my car started burning oil! I got an oil change 2 months ago. right after I got the car back i drove 5 miles to fill up gas, and i check the oil. it was over filled by alot. (aprox .7 to .8 liter) so i call them and i drove right back to drain some oil. to make my day worse, the guy stalled my car twice when going up the ramp to the lift. wonder how many times he stalled it when i wasn't watching?
since then, I notice my car started using oil. everytime i fill up gas, i notice the oil has dropped a bit. after 3000 miles, the oil went from the top hole to the bottom hole on the dipstick.
my car has 170k miles, before it never use a drop of oil.
whenever i check it, it never made it to past the middle,
is it just a coincident? and my car is getting old?
and what is oil blowby?

oil blow buy is when your rings go bad and oil blows by them. anyways filling up way to much oil isn't good i'm not sure how much it takes but if you got alot more than you have it'll get up to your rings and add extra stress to them
You would have to overfill your engine many quarts to do damage. My car has an Accusump 3 qt preoiler and once in awhile all the 3 quarts ends up in the pan before the Accusump is recharged and I have never had a problem. and My car isused strictly for road racing. 170miles is allot but these motors can go much further than that if they were taken care of.
Do a cylinder leakdown test and you will find out exactly what is going on in your engine. Also do a vaccum test on the motor andsee if the needle jumps around and that will generally mean poor valve sealing.

The only thing that overfilling it does is makes the oil foam because it gets whipped up by the crankshaft counterwirghts. This in turn lets bubbles get put into the oil flow, and a lower amount of lubrication is used.
I would assyume you are burning oil becuase of the type of oil they used, not due to the overfill.
My mom's civic was also overfilled, and has had no problems since. (by 1 qt)
Most US engines use 5 qts, and most jap engines use 4 qts. Inexperienced techs just put in 5 qts because they do no tknow better.
And stalling the car won't hurt it, but I would be doing my own oil changes anyways.
