Engine Swap 02 Accord LX V6
I am currently at the point where I think it would be a waste to mod my car anymore with it's current engine. I have an Automatic 02 Accord v6 and I'm afraid if I were to add any more power, be it forced induction or more performance parts, that the strain on the transmission would be too much. I am thinking about engine swapping it with an Accord Euro R H22A and manual transmission. I believe it would be a great swap since it would reduce the curb weight from 3,274 to 2,850lbs, that's over a 400lb weight difference with arguable more power(hp not torque). Since it has no clutch and is set up for an Automatic is it possible to get it done at a shop without spending a butt ton of money? I just don't have the equipment or a driveway where for me to do a project this big. I know getting another car would make a lot more sense but I'm sentimentally attached to my car lol

It all depends on what your quoted at the shop and what your comfortable spending, it's gonna cost you a good $500 at least to convert to manual. It can be done of course, if the car means alot to you then a 5spd and H22 swap would make sense if you ask me, either that or just convert to a 5spd or 6spd and keep your V6.
Well most of the reason I wanted to swap to an H22 was because they already make manual transmission for it. They don't make a manual for the j30a1, is there a manual transmission that is similar enough to fit it ? I'd be happy to keep my current engine and convert my current setup to manual if that's doable. I've just heard that it was difficult....

I've seen an h22 swap done before but it's usually in the 4 cylinder version that already had a manual setup.
I'm trying to figure out where I would the components from like you're saying lol.

Yeah I guess you have to weigh your options. Think about what you'll be doing in the future with it and if you have always wanted another car but didn't have the funds at the time but you do now and that sort of stuff. I just got to the point with my 99' Accord where I want to do stuff to it and my friend mentioned an LS swap, but that's way down the road when I have money XD. Think about what's best for your time and money. Lay all your options out and just take your time. You could always rent tools/equipment if you think you can do the swap yourself with a few other people of course.
