F22B2 low power above 5k rpm
Hello everyone, I'm a new member here. I've got some good info from here in the past though, although I never registered. Anyways, onto my issue.
I have a 94 accord lx with 116k original miles. I've done a lot of work on it in the couple years I've owned it, I bought it crashed and fixed it up then hit a deer about a year later and had to do it all again. I did a timing belt at 83k when I bought it, as well as a valve adjustment and a bunch of other maintenance things. I figured those two things could be the two things I did which may be involved in the problem I'm having. The car runs great. But when I get to higher RPM (above 5k), it seems to have less power. The last ~1,000 rpm (5k-6k) go by a lot slower than the previous 1,000 (4k-5k) when accelerating at full throttle. My timing is pretty much spot on, I checked. Also, above 5.5k rpm, it makes a high pitched sound that makes me very uncomfortable. It's hard to describe the sound. It almost sounds like cricket sounds but very sped up. Anyways, I'm not entirely sure this is even a problem, maybe these engines don't make much power at higher RPMs? What could possibly be causing this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hey holmesnmanny, thanks for the reply. This probably seems like a joke but the closest thing I can think of is the noisy cricket from Men In Black.
It sounds like 5:58 in this video:
I recorded a video of the car accelerating. The noise isn't audible in the video but it shows how it seems like the car is really struggling to accelerate through the last 500 rpm up to 6k.
thanks again.

I see. I guess peak power is at 5300 , makes sense it would accelerate more slowly after that. Any ideas on the noise? What is the cause of power to not steadily increase with rpm? Is the factory tune really bad or something? Or is the intake manifold really bad for flow on this motor? I know people do f23a manifold swaps...
